Anna Noice
B.A., Occidental College; M.A., California State University Los Angeles; Ph.D. Candidate, University of Notre Dame
Profile
Noice studies medieval literature in Middle and Old English. Continuing the work she began at CSULA, her research at Notre Dame focuses on textile production and use in the Middle Ages. She is currently preparing a paper for presentation at the upcoming Saint Louis Conference on Manuscript Studies sponsored and facilitated by the Vatican Film Library. This paper examines the Middle English poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight alongside one of its Cotton Nero A.x. illustrations which is remarkable for both its unconventional color patterns and the distinctly medieval poetic interpretation they suggest. This year, she is also continuing work on a project that examines references to finger-rings in conversion era Anglo-Saxon literature.
